Signature Design
A complete interior, developed around the way you live.
A home is made up of hundreds of decisions. The layout, materials, lighting, furniture and the details that bring everything together all need to work in relation to one another. When these decisions are made separately, even beautiful elements can fail to create a space that feels coherent.
Signature Design is for clients who want an experienced designer to look at the entire picture, bring the decisions together and develop the interior as one considered whole.
I work with people who have a clear sense of what matters to them, even if they do not yet know exactly how they want their home to look. They bring their taste, priorities and ideas, I bring the experience and perspective to turn them into a coherent interior. I take the time to understand how you want to live, what matters to you, what the property already offers and where its potential lies. From there, I develop the interior from the spatial concept through to the materials, furniture, lighting and details that complete it.
The result is not a home designed around a predetermined style or the latest trend. It is a space developed specifically for you, the property and the life that will take place there.
When you want the entire interior to come together.
A full-service project gives us the time and space to look at the home as a whole rather than solving one decision at a time. We begin with the architecture and the way you actually live. How you move through the home, where you naturally gather, what needs to work harder, what deserves to be emphasised and what may be better left alone.
From there, I develop the interior through spatial planning, materials, colour, lighting, furniture and the details that complete the concept. Each decision is considered in relation to the others, so the result feels coherent rather than assembled piece by piece.
I do not begin with a predetermined style. Some projects call for restraint, others for more character. Some need a complete rethink, while others become stronger when we work with what is already there.
The aim is to find the strongest version of the space, one that feels natural to live in, works beautifully in everyday life and remains relevant long after the project is finished.
A design process that gives you clarity, not another list of decisions.
One of the reasons clients choose full-service design is to have an experienced person beside them who can take responsibility for the design decisions, explain the reasoning behind them and keep the whole project moving in one direction. You do not need to become an expert in lighting, materials, furniture specifications or technical drawings overnight. You need to know that the decisions being made are considered, connected and right for your project. I bring the experience and perspective. You bring your taste, your priorities and the way you want to live.
The best work happens somewhere between the two.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Signature Design is for clients who want a complete interior rather than a collection of individual design decisions. You may be furnishing a new home, renovating a substantial part of an existing one, or simply feel that the different elements of your interior need to come together in a more considered way.
You do not need to know exactly how you want your home to look. What matters is having a clear sense of what is important to you - how you want to live, what you value, what you are drawn to and what you want your home to support. From there, we can develop the design together.
This service is particularly suited to people who appreciate proportion, function, materials and lighting as much as appearance, who would rather make fewer, better decisions than spend months comparing endless options, and who value having an experienced designer who is willing to question an idea when another possibility could serve the space better.
Most importantly, it is for people who are open to a different perspective, enjoy discussing ideas and are willing to discover something together that neither of us might have arrived at alone.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE DESIGN PROCESS?
Site Survey & Consultation
1 complimentary site survey and consultation. The process begins on site. I get to know the property, its existing conditions, your needs and what you would like to achieve.
Space Planning & Concept
2 initial layout proposals (2 versions), 1 final concept (maximum 3 revisions). Different space planning options are explored through two initial proposals. The final concept is then developed from the selected direction.
Furniture Layout Plan
1 scaled furniture layout plan. The detailed plan shows the placement of furniture, spatial relationships, architectural elements and key details.
Elevations
1–4 elevations per room, depending on the characteristics of the space. These drawings allow built-in elements, proportions, materials and important details to be developed precisely.
Materials & Lighting
Floor and wall finish plan, lighting plan. The finishes, colours, surfaces and lighting work together to define the final character of the interior.
Visualisations
Photorealistic visualisations, 1–2 per room. The visualisations allow you to see how the planned interior comes together before implementation.
Specification
Specification of finishes, sanitaryware, lighting, furniture, curtains and accessories, including prices and sources. We define not only what goes into the home, but also the exact product, its price and where it can be sourced.
Personal Visits
2 site visits, 3 showroom visits. Important decisions can be discussed and made together in person when needed.
Ongoing Professional Consultation
I am available by email and phone throughout the design process, Monday to Friday, 9:00–16:00.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
When you want the design carried through into reality.
Design and implementation are two different stages of a project. Once construction begins, decisions have to be coordinated, communicated and followed through and unexpected situations inevitably appear.
Project management is therefore not automatically included in every Signature Design commission. I accept a maximum of two fully managed projects per year so that I can remain closely involved and give each one the attention it requires.
When I manage the implementation, I act as the guardian of the design direction we have developed together. I coordinate the different parties involved, monitor progress, help resolve decisions as they arise and keep the finished result aligned with the original concept.
The aim is to make sure that the finished home still feels like the space we set out to create.
INVESTMENT
Every project is different, so I prepare a personalised proposal based on the individual property, scope, complexity and level of design support required. Project management is quoted separately according to the scope and responsibilities involved.
READY TO CREATE THE WHOLE SPACE?
If you are looking for an experienced designer to develop your home from the first spatial decisions to the final details, I would love to hear about your project. Tell me about the property, where you are in the process and what you would like to create. From there, we can determine whether Signature Design is the right way for us to work together.
